For my Production Team class, I was tasked with modeling this car. I was responsible for the exterior, while a partner did the interior. It was my first attempt at modeling a vehicle of any sort, but I felt comfortable enough with organic/hard-surface type objects that it didn't feel too daunting. I knew it would be a challenge, but a fun one.
.....
As of now, this model is not quite complete. I just need to put the wing on, and finish up the back bumper. It's very close to done and will be soon. When I do finish, I plan to have a lot more fun with some rendering.

The images in this table outline the bulk of this project, which was the modeling. I decided to go with the advice an instructor gave me, and not try to approach the modeling of this car as if it was one whole object. It is, in fact, several sheets of things brought together to make the car. With this is mind, I began my modeling by starting in an obvious area of important foundation, the wheel arches, and went out from there. With general layout forming, I began to cut out of the large shape to make the individual pieces.

Again, research here played a big role. I was able to find some good orthographic views of the car, but those only get you so far. Detailing of all the cool details takes specific imagery that show all the different angles and close up and such of all the parts. I still spend a good amount of time finding images to work with before I begin modeling, and I often continue to research as I model. These aren't all the images I found, but a nice chunk.

I worked a lot on this piece in its subdivided shape. I usually had a turbo-smooth on and just had it showing the end result. This was very handy as sometimes the low poly geometry wouldn't line up perfectly, but when the interpolated smoothing was applied, bending and curving would occur and bring things together.
.....
No need to waste a bunch of time talking about every detail of the modeling process, we've all been there, so just take a moment to peruse the images to see the overall progress of how I built it. I'm particularly fond of image 13. It shows all the different sections blown apart and outside of just looking kind of cool, is a nice demonstration of all the separate things that come together to make the model.
